“Elections have consequences.”
A meeting at the White House over funding for border security between President Trump and Democrats Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) tuned into quite an intense exchange.
President Trump has demanded $5 billion for border wall construction, and remained stubborn on this stance throughout the meeting, which he should, the American people voted for it.
However, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi simply were’t having it and never let the president have the last laugh when discussing the importance of border security.
Democrats insist they will go no higher than $1.3 billion, substantially lower than what Trump thinks is adequate.
Divided government is no surprise to Americans, but what comes as a shocker was the way in which Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer conducted themselves, openly defying the president to his face.
No other word aptly describes their behavior better than disrespectful.
Notably quiet during the discussion was Vice President Mike Pence, who practically could’ve been eating popcorn as he watched.

Schumer was Wildly Disrespectful and Pelosi Tried to be the ‘Adult’
Arguing over the effectiveness of a wall and votes needed to pass legislation in the Senate devolved into a political fight with Trump on one side and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on the other.
During the 2 vs. 1 confrontation, Chuck Schumer was most combative against the president, while Pelosi held back at times.
One example of this being when Schumer brought up the results of the midterm election, insinuating the president is in trouble.
“When the president brags he has won North Dakota and Indiana, he’s in real trouble.”
The fact that a United States Senator said this to a sitting president’s face while smiling is amazing.
Schmuck Schumer is one smug bastard.
Throughout the contentious back and forth, Nancy Pelosi repeatedly made it clear she didn’t believe this was a matter for the press to see.
Of course, liberals can’t win arguments and don’t care about transparency, so shut the camera’s off.
Pelosi tried to seem like the ‘adult’ in the room, yet constantly thrust herself back into the fight and made counters to Trump’s statements.
“Unfortunately, this has spiraled downward … You will not win.”
You can’t have it both ways. Either debate or have a private discussion but small political jabs for the camera are despicable.
Pelosi’s Private Comments
According the The Hill, during a private meeting with Democrats afterwards, Pelosi made several statements about the ordeal.
The first, she seemingly blamed toxic-masculinity for Trump’s persistence on fighting for the American people against illegal immigration.
“It’s like a manhood thing with him — as if manhood can be associated with him.”
Her attempts to act like the grown up in the room were also echoed during this private discussion. “I was trying to be the mom,” she said. “I can’t explain it to you. It was so wild.”
The 78 year old out of touch woman also likened the political discussion to ‘tinkle’.
“It goes to show you: You get into a tinkle contest with a skunk, you get tinkle all over you,”
Very classy, Nancy.
Where Trump Made a Grave Mistake
President Trump did a a fair job in sticking up for the American people, considering the wall is nowhere finished, but also made a grave mistake during the confrontation.
“I’ll be the one to shut it down. I will take the mantle. And I will shut it down for border security.”
This is a problematic statement that will surely comeback to haunt the president.
Government shutdowns aren’t necessarily a bad thing, but they’re extremely unpopular with the public, for obvious reasons.
Because border security is national security, I would support a shutdown if that’s the extreme measure it would take for proper wall funding.
However, the blame game of ‘who’s fault’ constantly spurs partisan debates surrounding shutdowns.
By acknowledging that a shutdown would be the fault of his own, Trump has given Democrats the ammunition they need for blaming him once the shutdown has occurred.
Shutdown or no shutdown, the American people deserve proper funding for border security and President Trump needs to continue fighting for just that.
