On Tuesday, President Donald Trump effectively fired FBI Director James Comey, the nation’s top law enforcement official.
Who knew that one of President Trump’s greatest skills comes from a famous saying associated with his hit reality television show? His firing of Director Comey is long overdue, but still monumental nonetheless.
Trump symbolically saying ‘you’re fired’ to both Sally Yates and James Comey signal one strong message: the era of incompetence in government is over.
Now, let’s just get this fact out of the way: the President of the United States has every right to legally fire the FBI Director. Legally there is absolutely no problem here.
I never thought I would say this, but liberals are now concerned about ethics. The Democrats’ latest conspiracy theory: the president fired the FBI director due to investigations into Russian ties to the White House.
In other words: Trump is apparently a fascist dictator. How original!
Democrats are already pulling their hair over this ‘Nixonian’ firing. References to the Saturday Night Massacre are meant to sound scary and allude to a scandal engulfing the White House.
None of which could be farther from the truth.
So let me get this straight: Trump is just going to fire government officials if they lead investigations against him? Donald Trump wasn’t born yesterday, clearly he understands the unethical implications of such a move.
Comey should’ve been canned the afternoon of the inauguration. He was simply unfit for the job.
Democrats Wanted Comey’s Resignation
- “Maybe he’s not in the right job,” – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
- “Of course, yes [he should step down]” – Former Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV)
- “I do not have confidence in him any longer,” – Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
- “The FBI director has no credibility,” – Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)
The more Schmuck Schumer and cohorts try to label the Comey firing as the new Watergate and stir the Russian conspiracy theory, the more they help President Trump by making themselves look foolish.
President Trump’s Letter to James Comey
MAY 9, 2017
Dear Director Comey:
I have received the attached letters from the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the United States recommending your dismissal as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have accepted their recommendation and you are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately.
While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.
It is essential that we find new leadership that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission.
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
DONALD J. TRUMP
What makes this firing sweet: Comey reportedly discovered he had been fired as head of the FBI while in the middle of a speech.
Mr Comey was talking to staff when a television in the background displayed the breaking news that he had been canned, according to the New York Times.
The FBI director laughed it off by was saying he thought it was a prank and made a joke about it to lighten the mood.
An FBI official said Mr Comey was “surprised, really surprised” and was “caught flat-footed.”
It’s about time Trump started draining the swamp.
So now Democrats are saying that Comey was fired because Trump’s trying to save himself from the Russia investigation. But I thought Democrats were claiming it was Comey who helped propel Trump into office?
Clearly they didn’t have that cozy of a relationship then.
But hold on now, this is liberal logic we’re talking about. There’s obviously more inconsistencies.
Liberals threw tantrums like babies when Comey reopened the investigations into Hillary Clinton, they called for his firing back then.
But now it’s suddenly not okay to fire the man? Last time I checked the president was in charge of the Executive branch.
And let us not forget when Comey made an ass of himself in front of Congress in regards to his investigation into Hillary:
“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information,”
Let’s not forget that under the “leadership” of Comey the FBI made a deal in which Clinton aides were both given immunity and allowed to destroy their laptops.
If we had real leadership at the FBI, Hillary would’ve been locked up. But apparently laws need not apply to people of power.
Comey lost both the trust of the Trump administration and the trust of the public. There was no reason not to fire him.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions had this to say in his letter to the president:
“Based on my evaluation, and for the reasons expressed by the Deputy Attorney General in the attached memorandum, I have concluded that a fresh start is needed at the leadership of the FBI.”
And this is just that: a fresh start and new leadership for the FBI.
The president wants to replace Comey with someone that will actually bring back credibility back to the FBI. He’s draining the swamp, and it’s about time.
