Confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch ended Thursday, yet Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer along with the Democrats vow to filibuster.
President Trump was correct in calling them obstructionists. They complained for eight years that all the Republicans did was block Obama at every attempt, yet here they are doing the exact same.
Chuck the schmuck Schumer said he will vote no on President Trump’s nominee, the respected Judge Neil Gorsuch, and asked other Democrats to join him in blocking an up-or-down vote.
Everyone knew this would eventually happen. The Democrats have proven to be worthless idiots time and time again and they weren’t going to let Trump have his Supreme Court nominee that easily.
Why would they? These are the same idiotic people running around terrified of Russia. No longer are they Democrats, they are obstructionists.
The obstructionists, led by Chuck Schumer, plan to delay the confirmation for as long as possible through the filibuster option.
This tactic reveals how these slime truly operate, and will ultimately get them nowhere.
How the Confirmation Works
Republicans won majorities in the House and Senate, they hold all the power.
Since the Democrats don’t have the votes, they are going to filibuster, and speaking for hours on end, to prolong enough time to delay the entire process.
The obstructionists are hoping President Trump changes his mind and chooses a nominee more of their liking. They’re delusional, that’ll never happen.
Under Senate rules, it requires 60 votes to overcome the spectacle of a filibuster. Here’s the problem: Republicans only have a 52-senator majority.
Here’s what the Schmuck Chuck Schumer said on the Senate floor:
“If this nominee cannot earn 60 votes — a bar met by each of Obama’s nominees, and George Bush’s last two nominees — the answer isn’t to change the rules. It’s [time] to change the nominee,”
No, it’s time for you and your colleagues to sit down and shut up. Your party ran this country into the ground for eight long years, you have no say at this point.
I don’t hate Democrats because I’m a Republican. I’m independent of both parties since both are too corrupt for me to be associated with. I’m a conservative, not a country club Republican.
Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters and Schmuck Schumer make me want to throw up. Listening to them speak is almost as harsh on the ears as watching Hillary Clinton is on the eyes.
It only takes one senator to start a filibuster, but it takes 40 of these idiots to keep it going in the face of opposition. The real question is whether they can hold out 40.
If just 8 Democrats join the 52 Republicans, they can achieve the 60-vote bloc necessary to stop a filibuster.
What about the Nuclear Option?
Under current Senate rules, Republicans would need eight Democrats to join them to move Gorsuch’s nomination forward. Short of that, Republican Senate leaders may trigger the so-called nuclear option.
The nuclear option would change the rules to allow a simple majority to proceed. It shouldn’t come down to that point but the Democrats may leave Republicans with no choice.
Members on both sides have threatened to invoke the nuclear option throughout the upper chamber’s long history, but it wasn’t until 2013 that the threats turned into action.
Then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, another failure in life, frustrated by GOP efforts to block Obama’s appointees, invoked the nuclear option for nominees to the executive branch and lower federal courts.
Democrats want all-out obstruction when it comes to Gorsuch.
Not just because he’s conservative and they will lose the Supreme Court, but also because they believe Republicans basically stole the seat by refusing to take a vote on former President Barack Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland.
The reason Republicans didn’t vote for Merrick Garland was because that was an election year. The American people chose the next nominee by voting for the presidency.
No matter how much you explain this to liberals, they never quite get it.
Justice Antonin Scalia was one of the best Supreme Court Justice’s we’ve ever had. Period, in the entire history of this country. The man was a true constitutionalist.
No more public policy makers. The document isn’t living and breathing. Meanings don’t change. We need people who understand and interpret the constitution for what it is.
Neil Gorsuch is a perfect nomination. He is the perfect heir to his predecessor, and to Scalia’s legacy as a whole. Hell, even never-Trump conservatives have praised the president for this pick.
The Democrats along with Schmuck Schumer can filibuster as long as they want. It won’t get them anywhere.
