Donald Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Flynn, has just resigned, and it’s a sad thing.
Due to recent scandal over his talks with Russian officials, he has decided it is best to step down.
I personally liked Flynn. He was a genuine supporter of Trump.
He served his country and wasn’t another established figure in politics. In other words, he was no Paul Ryan or Reince Priebus.
In fact it seems as now Trump’s entire cabinet is filled with political snakes that serve the party and the donors, rather than the people. Flynn was certainly one of the good guys fighting against that.
I loved his insight on the campaign trail. He was one of the major supporters of Trump with the likes of Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie and Newt Gingrich.
It’s a sad loss but hopefully the President’s agenda continues to achieve success.
So How Did This All Unfold?
General Mike Flynn has recently been under investigation for his past talks with Russian officials during the 2016 election. The scrutiny came as he was an avid supporter of Trump and was frequently on the campaign trail with him.
Here’s where the conflict of interest lies: Flynn denied having discussion with Russian officials about the sanctions imposed on Russia from the Obama administration.
However, it’s now come to light that topic was brought up in conversation.
The Washington Post reported that Acting Attorney General Sally Yates recently warned Trump that Flynn was not being honest about his relations with Russian Officials.
His talk of sanctions appeared suspicious and left him vulnerable to be a puppet from Russian government. That’s what the Democrats claimed.
Then yesterday, it was announced that Michael Flynn is stepping down as national security adviser to the president.
Flynn’s spokesman gave a statement regarding his resignation.
“[Mike Flynn] indicated that while he had no recollection of discussing sanctions, he couldn’t be certain that the topic never came up.”
The national security adviser also wrote a letter to the president and vice president regarding his resignation. The letter has since gone public and offers insight to Flynn’s view on the matter.
In his letter of resignation he admitted fault and was honest.
“Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology,”
The letter from what I read seemed genuinely sincere. It’s really unfortunate this had to happen.
The scandal was one that grew a bigger target over his head. The target eventually grew too large.
Why Leftists are Having a Field Day With this News
Leftists are no doubt rejoicing at this news.
The same idiots that honestly believe Trump coordinated with the Russian government to steal the election will surely point to this as proof of Russian ties. Or at the very least they’ll point to incompetency.
This story broke because of nine different sources. Nine, I spelled that right.
President Trump is currently facing hard opposition in the intelligence community. They’ve undermined him repeatedly with these continuous leaks.
You’ve heard it all before. Trump is a Russian agent, the Russians helped him steal the election and this is further proof of him not being a legitimate president. Or at least that’s what the Democrats are saying right now.
No, none of those are true. General Mike Flynn is a patriot and a good man, he would’ve made a great national security adviser if he stayed on the job longer.
Remember this is a guy Obama fired. Obama despised like Flynn (which makes me like him even more).
Flynn actually believes he was fired because of his strong stance against radical Islamic terrorism. He’s also admitted that Obama’s administration was arming the terrorists. Also that this was a willful decision.
When Trump was choosing his cabineet, the only two I truly wanted were Senator Jeff Sessions and General Mike Flynn. Both were chosen instantly.
The only other time I really cared about his picks was when he was considering Romney for secretary of state. Thank God that never happened.
While the libs are going to run around screaming this is proof or Russian influence in the Trump administration, I’ll take the high road and view this as a mistake.
Update: President Trump asked for Flynn’s resignation, due to “erosion of trust” between the two. Further proof Trump is no puppet.
